[BETA] Prayers

Shine Forth the Light lvl. 1 Prayer
[Illumination]
An object in your hand or a part there of glows with a brilliant light.
SP: 3
Components: V, S
Casting Time: Minor Action
Range: Touch
Duration: 3 rounds + 1 round per level

The touched object, or a specific part of it sheds bright light in a 20ft radius and dim light for 40ft.

Parts of the object can be covered to limit this light or its direction.

Blessing of Health lvl. 1 Prayer
[Healing]
By the grace of your god, you or one of your allies is restored to health.
SP: 3
Components: V, S
Casting Time: Minor Action
Range: Close (25ft + 5ft per 2 caster levels)

One creature within range gains hit point per level and may immediately roll a Fortitude save to end the effects of one poison or disease with a bonus equal to your WIS modifier.

Blessing of Protection lvl. 1 Prayer
[Warding]
The power of your god defends the target from attack.
SP: 3
Components: V, S
Casting Time: Minor Action
Range: Close (25ft + 5ft per 2 caster levels)
Duration: 1 round per level

The target gain a +2 protection bonus to AC and DR 5 vs divine damage.

At 9th level, the protection bonus increases to +3 and DR 10 vs divine damage, and at 18th level, the protection bonus increases to +4 and DR 15 vs divine damage.

Blessing of Celerity lvl. 1 Prayer
[Alteration]
The power of your god lightens the target's step.
SP: 3
Components: V, S
Casting Time: Minor Action
Range: Close (25ft + 5ft per 2 caster levels)
Duration: 1 round per level

All of the target's movement speeds increase by +5ft and they can move 10ft as a 5ft step instead of just 5ft.

At 9th level, the bonus increases to 10ft, and at 18th level, the bonus increases to +15.

Blessing of Ferocity lvl. 1 Prayer
[Alteration]
The power of your god empowers the target's strikes.
SP: 3
Components: V, S
Casting Time: Minor Action
Range: Close (25ft + 5ft per 2 caster levels)
Duration: 1 round per level

The target gains a +1 spell bonus to attack and damage rolls vs enemies.

At 9th level, the bonus increases to +2, at 18th level, the bonus increases to +4.

Recovery lvl. 1 Prayer
[Resurrection]
A swift prayer undoes death, but only for the freshly dead.
SP: 3
Components: V, S
Casting Time: Standard Action
Range: 5ft

Target ally that has died since the end of your last turn returns to life at 1hp.

Holy Weapon lvl. 1 Prayer
[Creation]
The favored weapon of your god appears in your hands, formed of light, shadows, mists or other ephemeral substance, but just as deadly as the real thing.
SP: 3
Components: V, S
Casting Time: Standard Action
Range: Self
Duration: 1 round per level

A weapon in the form of your deity's favored weapon appears in your hand. This weapon is magical and grants a +1 bonus to attack, damage, CMB and CMD and you have Advanced Proficiency (if any) with that weapon.

In all other ways, this weapon is identical to any other weapon of its type.

If the weapon leaves your hands for any reason, the spell ends.

At 9th level, the weapon's bonus increases to +3, and at 18th level, the bonus increases to +5.

Aegis of the God lvl. 1 Prayer
[Warding]
A shield bearing your god's symbol appears on your arm, granting you your god's protection.
SP: 3
Components: V, S
Casting Time: Standard Action
Range: Self
Duration: 1 round per level

A light or heavy shield (your choice) appears on your arm. This shield is magical and grants an additional +1 shield bonus to AC and Reflex saves, but is in all other ways identical to any other shield of its type.

If the shield is separated from you for any reason, the spell ends.

At 9th level, the shield's bonus increases to +3, and at 18th level, the bonus increases to +5.

Deific Smite lvl. 1 Prayer
[Alteration]
The wrath of your god is channeled into one of your attacks.
SP: 3
Components: V, S
Casting Time: Standard Action or Full-Round Action
Range: Self

If cast as a Standard Action, make a melee attack against one target. On a hit, deal normal weapon damage + STR modifier and an additional divine damage equal to 1d6 + WIS modifier.

If cast as a Full-Round Action, make a number of melee attacks against up to that number of targets, each equal to the number of attacks allowed by your BaB. On each hit, deal normal weapon damage + STR modifier and an additional divine damage equal to 1d6 + WIS modifier.

At 9th level, the damage increases to 2d6 + WIS modifier, and at 18th level, the damage increases to 3d6 + WIS modifier.

Excoriation lvl. 1 Prayer
The holy words of your god tear into your enemies wracking them with pain and shame.
SP: 3
Components: Standard Action
Casting Time: Standard Action
Range: Medium (100ft + 10ft per caster level)
Save: Fort negates (see text)

Make a ranged touch attack against a single target. On a hit, deal 1d10 + WIS modifier divine damage to the target and it must make a Fort save or become sickened (save ends).

If the target is not mindless, deal an additional 1 damage per caster level divine damage.

At the level, the damage increases to 2[1d10+ Wis modifier], and at 18th level, the damage increases to 3[1d10 + WIS modifier].

Oracular Vision lvl. 1 Prayer
[Divination]
You channel your god and grant an ally sporadic visions of the future.
SP: 3
Components: V, S
Casting Time: Minor Action
Range: Touch

The target gains a +1 spell bonus to all saving throws until the start of your next turn.

At 9th level, the bonus increases to +3, and at 18th level, the bonus increases to +5

Wall of Faith lvl. 1 Prayer
[Warding, Wall]
You channel your faith into a physical barrier against your enemies..
SP: 3
Components: V, S
Casting Time: Standard Action
Range: Close (25ft + 5ft per 2 caster levels)
Duration: 2 rounds +1 per level

You summon a wall into being made of shadows, mists, light or other ephemeral material. The wall fills 3 contiguous 5ft cubes + 1 5ft cube per 5 caster levels and each section has 5 Hardness and 20 hit points. The wall blocks line of effect and line of sight.

At 9th level, your allies can pass through the wall as if it were difficult terrain. At 18th level, your allies can pass through the wall as if it were not there.

Divine Curse, Minor lvl. 1 Prayer
[Alteration, Curse]
The wrath of your god is visited upon our enemy.
SP: 3
Components: V, S
Casting Time: Standard Action
Range: Close (25ft + 5ft per 2 caster levels)
Save: Fortitude or Will negates (see text)

One target within range suffers one of the following curses:

A -2 spell penalty to AC (Fort negates or ends)
A -1 to attack and damage (Will negates or ends)
A -1 to all skill checks (Will negates or ends)
A -5ft to all movement speeds (Fort negates or ends)
A -1 on all saves (Will negates or ends)
Target takes divine damage equal to your WIS modifier at the start of each of their turns (Fort negates or ends).

You cannot target a creature under a divine curse spell with a second divine curse with of an equal or lesser level.

Word of Salvation lvl. 1 Prayer
[Sound-Dependant, Alteration]
A single word in the speech of your god's most holy texts serves to rescue one ally from their fate.
SP: 3
Components: V, S
Casting Time: Minor Action
Range: Close (25ft + 5ft per 2 caster levels)

One ally within range who is under a save ends effect may immediately make a save against that effect at a +2 spell bonus.

At 9th level, this bonus increases to +4. At 18th level, this bonus increases to +6.

Divine Retribution lvl. 1 Prayer
[Curse]
What is done to you, your god does unto your enemies.
SP: 3
Components: V, S
Casting Time: Reaction (Trigger: You take damage from an enemy.)
Range: Self

The triggering creature takes divine damage equal to the damage you take (before you calculate DR or Resist).

Binding Flame lvl. 1 Array
[Curse]
Chains of solid flame shackle your foe in place, scalding their flesh if they make any attempts to move or attack.
SP: 3
Components: V, S
Casting Time: Standard Action
Range: Close (25ft + 5ft per 2 caster levels)
Duration: 1 round per level
Save: Will negates or ends

A single creature within range takes divine damage equal to your WIS modifier whenever it takes any non-Minor actions.

Lay Low Thy Enemies lvl. 1 Array
[Curse]
The power of your god strickens your foes with nausea, illness, vertigo or other affliction.
SP: 3
Components: V, S
Casting Time: Standard Action
Range: Close (25ft + 5ft per 2 caster levels)
Duration: Will negates or ends

All enemies within range must save or be sickened.

Each time a creature fails the Will save, they take divine damage equal to your WIS modifier

A successful save to negate or end this spells renders a creature immune to this spell for the duration of the encounter.

Wings of Faith lvl. 1 Prayer
[Creation]
Spectral wings emerge from your back, granting gliding or even flight.
SP: 3
Components: S, V
Casting Time: Standard Action
Duration: 1 round per level

You sprout a set of spectral wings. For the duration of the spell, you can levitate upward 10ft per round as a move action and glide forward 15ft per 5ft you fall. In addition, falls do no damage to you.

At 9th level, you gain a clumsy fly speed equal to your base move speed, at 18th level, you gain a hover fly speed equal to twice your base move speed.

In Blessing of Health, 'gains hit point per level' - should that be 'gains one hit point per level', or some other number? The target's level or the caster's?

The equivalent of a light cantrip/orison and a breath of life resurrecting people are the same level? The former should get buffed somehow, I don't see how the latter could be nerfed. Maybe skill bonuses, and/or maybe fold in invisibility purge at 9th/true seeing at 18th or something like that.

Can Binding Flame affect its target twice a round if the target takes a standard and a move action? If not, why cast this spell instead of one of the other Wis damager per round/save ends spells? What if they take a single full round action - once, or twice because it's effectively a move action + standard? What if they start a 1 round action - affect at the start or at the end? Edit: what if they spread a full-round action over 2 rounds by splitting it into a standard and move action, and do reactions count too?

Divine Retribution makes no sense at range self except as a fast means of suicide. No cap on damage makes divine casters very effective BBEGs.

Blessing of Health should be 2 hp per character level.

Oracular Vision is a minor action you can spam three times a round if you want.

Binding flame triggers whenever they take a non-minor action. A full round action would trigger it twice. Should probably make it trigger on reactions too.

Should remove range on Retribution because it's a trigger.

Shine Forth the Light is the light cantrip I meant. And yes, you can cast it 3 times a round, 4 w/adrenalize. Still not at all a decent equivalent to resurrecting the recently dead IMO. Which is why I'm suggesting some upgrades - maybe have it add a +2 bonus to perception at base and add invisibility purge as a 9th level upgrade and true seeing at 18th.

Resurrecting the recently dead as a 1st level spell sent my mind to odd places. I wonder if there are people who'd pay to be killed and resurrected? Nasty sex games or something.

Yeah, upgrading SFtL is a good idea, but there will never--and I mean NEVER going to be a true seeing in WoED20 just like there will never be a Knock or any other 'magic supersedes all other class choices spells. What I'll probably do is have it grant bonuses to perception vs illusions, hedging out Shadow spells, and eventually emulating sunlight.
